There are some nice features in Windows 11 but none of them are absolute must-haves. If your PC doesn’t meet the minimum requirements, it’s by no means a disaster. How does Parallels get around the TPM 2.0 requirement? “Starting with Parallels Desktop 17, Parallels Desktop reports to Windows OS that it's running in a virtual environment so that Windows doesn't ask for the presence of a TPM 2.0 chip,” a Parallels spokesperson told me. The latter will have to use the ARM-based version of Windows, though, which has very limited app support and is still in an experimental stage. Parallels Desktop 17 users can install Windows 11 as a virtual machine on their Macs - and that’s on either Intel-based Mac or the newer M1 Macs. ![]() That doesn’t mean Windows 11 is completely off the table for Mac owners, though. Whether Microsoft and Apple come to some special agreement that allows Windows 11 to run in Bootcamp awaits to be seen, but there’s no word from either party at the moment. ![]() However, it’s not clear whether it’s going to be possible to run Windows 11 in Bootcamp because of the TPM 2.0 requirement - Macs have never been fitted with TPM chips. If you’re an Intel Mac owner, you might have Windows 10 running on your computer via Apple’s Bootcamp.
